I signed-up at oDesk on December 10, 2009 but I am working as a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Nurse in a small Hospital that time. I just signed in to check what is oDesk all about, as always, I am often curious with almost about everything that I can’t help myself but to explore. August 16, 2011 came and it was actually the day after the 1st Birthday of my daughter. I was a stay at home mom during those times and was kind of a bit bored and fed up with just doing Facebook games so I decided to check back what oDesk is. I just thought it would be great to earn money online and so I took the oDesk readiness test and updated my profile. I applied to jobs in which I know I am capable of doing. Since I am a blogger for almost 4 years, I applied to numerous job offers that involves article writing. I got declined gazillion times! It was frustrating and I am about to give up when suddenly I received a job offer! Holy cow, I was applying as an article writer and I got declined many times then here it is, the job actually fell in front of me! I was so happy that time that I didn’t mind the hourly rate of $1.5 only for a WordPress Administrator job. It was a data entry type of job and the task was very easy. Since I own a lot of Wordpress blogs, I was able to do my tasks well But the hourly rate is not enough to cover for our electric and internet bill and so I decided to look for another job. It must be God’s will that I was offered a job in-lined with WordPress and so, I decided to take that path. Making a cover letter is also crucial for you to be able to land a job at oDesk. It took me two months before I got another contract and my job title is Website Developer/ Designer/ Manager and its for a fixed price. After a week, that project ended and I finally got my first feedback on my profile and I got a five star. Since then, being hired became easier. Up to now, I am learning some more about wordress, website-development, php,web design, html, css, javascript, jquery, photoshop, seo, smm and anything that would develop my skills and be worthy of the title WordPress Diva and a Jack-of-all-Trades Virtual Assistant.
I have earned approximately $2,000 for the past 6 months already. I know it may not be much compared to my oDesk acquaintances, but for a part-time job and for just a total of 289 hours, it is not that bad huh?
So those of you who would want to earn extra income and also a hard working person, why don’t you try oDesk.
